Art Inspiration for Type 3 and 4 Hair Textures
Whenever I draw a subject that has a coily, kinky, type 4 hair texture or a looser type 3 hair texture, I wonder about the best way to capture its essence and dimension. In order to do this, I look at other artists and take inspiration from their choices to determine how I want to portray the hair of my subject. Whether it’s a blowout, coils slick with gel, cornrows, locs, or an afro puff, I’m always curious about the marks that an artist makes to capture those styles.
