Guardians of Masks and Memory

Guardians of Masks and Memory is the first book in my Afrofuturistic series. The series is focused on exploring indigenous African cultures that African Americans may feel disconnected from all from the lens of a fictional story. This series focuses on real influences like the Moors, the Empire of Two Shores, and Orisha, while translating them into a fantasy/afrofuturistic context.

This story is told from the perspective of a girl named Maleda, who is a princess that has forgotten her past and tries to rediscover herself. She uncovers mystery after mystery, learning just as much as she is getting overwhelmed. However, in the end she has to learn to either rise up to the challenge or let her grief consume her.

I have included chapter one below!
